Weeds in the middle of the wheat !

"It was an enemy who did this." Matthew 13. 28

The parable of Matthew 13, verses 24-30 is disconcerting ! Jesus warns us that the enemy will not stop sowing weed seeds (lies, delusions, errors) while we sow wheat (Word of God), and this, in the same field ! Why does it have to be like this ?

1- Because we often fall asleep ! “While the people were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away” (Matthew 13. 25). Let's wake up ! Charismatic personalities and large crowds do not guarantee the truth of the teaching ! Paul warned the church in Ephesus : “I know that after my departure cruel wolves will come among you and they will not spare the flock” (Acts 20, 29).

2- Because the sowers all look alike ! Who are these sowers who sow weeds ? Listen again to Paul's response : “From your own ranks there will arise men who will give perverted teachings to draw the disciples after them” (Acts 20:30). These men had started well in their walk as disciples of Christ before they turned away from the truth. You might be asking yourself : "Do you want us to go and tear it up ?" No, that is not our role, Jesus teaches us, “lest by pulling up the weeds you at the same time uproot the wheat. Let the one and the other grow together until the harvest, I will say to the reapers : First pluck up the weed and bind it in bundles to burn it, but gather up the wheat in my barn” (Matthew 13. 29-30). Many “voices” are being raised these days to “teach” us, and we must use a lot of discernment to understand what spirit is at work in them. Is it important to differentiate between these contradictory voices ? A small degree of error on a short course may turn out to be of little importance, but if you stay on a path that gradually deviates from the truth, you may one day find yourself very far from the truth. place where God wanted you. It will be a little late then to understand that it was "an enemy who did this" ! Protect yourself by living close to the Word of God, filled with the Holy Spirit who will “lead you into all truth” (John 16. 13), and will surround you with “those who have received a faith of the same price as ours.” (2 Peter 1.1).
