The Bible states that "When there is no revelation, the people know no restraint, but if he respects the law, he is happy" (Proverbs 29:18). We could also say that without a precise target, we lose our strength. It is therefore important to find our target.
Find your target, then get to know it. How does she live ? How does she think ? What are his challenges ? What are the mental barriers they encounter in relation to the Gospel (sometimes there are similarities between the same types of people) ?
In the world, the target of a product is defined by age (18-35 years old, teenagers, young adults, parents, etc.), sex (men, women), school level (PhD, Bachelor, Baccalaureate) , etc.), occupation, income (high, medium, low), marital status (married, divorced, common-law, etc.), household composition (number of children, collocation, etc.), religion, etc. The more precisely you know your target, the better you will use the Word of God in a proper way.
Using parables, Jesus spoke to fish fishermen using terms they understood. He spoke to bosses, or farmers, using terms and situations they knew and encountered in their everyday lives.
In front of the Samaritan woman who came to draw water, Jesus spoke to her about a vivifying water. If you talk to an old man stammering and chirping as you would with a baby, the discussion may stop quickly.
Our "product" is great and unique. He is the answer to all the problems of this world. This is our way of bringing this product that sometimes makes it powerless. I encourage you to seriously ask yourself the question : "What is the target God has put on my heart ?". What kind of people do you often care about ? It is probably not a coincidence, but surely a call from God !
