What cause do you serve ?

"I am ready not only to be imprisoned, but to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." Acts 21.13

A prophet named Agabus announced to Paul a terrible trial if he went up to Jerusalem. His friends did everything to dissuade him from going there. But the apostle knew the cause for which he lived and was not dissuaded. He did what he was called to do, even if he had to pay a heavy price for it. Paul was serving a cause and no one could turn him away from his mission.

"Choose Jesus for cause and your life will have effects !"

Pastor Martin Luther King said : "As long as a man has not discovered the cause for which he is willing to die, he is not able to live." This young preacher had a huge dream. Several decades later, we still feel the effects of MLK's cause.

When a young man named David Wilkerson left his campaign to evangelize in the streets of New York, he took a huge risk. A Puerto Rican gang leader, Nicky Cruz, threatened to cut him into a thousand pieces. The young preacher replied : "You could shred me into a thousand fragments, that every bit of my body would still tell you that Jesus loves you." To make Jesus Christ known to young gangs in New York was a great cause in his eyes. Decades later, we still feel the effects.

Recently, we received in our Momentum church in Bordeaux, pastor Bill Willson. A month before his arrival, he had been a victim of a firearm while helping children in Afghanistan. It was not his first bullet wound. He is regularly attacked : punches, knife or revolver attacks ... But to make the cause of Christ known to street children is his whole life. It is his cause, and his effect is powerful.

The cause of Jesus is us. That is why he went so far as to die on the wood of the cross so that we may be saved and reconciled with God. The effects of the cross have transcended the centuries and every day people find themselves benefiting from this sacrifice.

A life without a cause is a life without effects ... Choose Jesus for cause and your life will have effects !

Lord, I give you my life, you are my cause, my reason for being, it is for you that I live, amen.
