What did God do for you ?

"The LORD was angry with Solomon, because he had turned away his heart from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice." 1 Kings 11.9

Solomon had grown up in a home where the things of God had been taught him. He knew the story of Israel and the miracles that God had accomplished. He had learned how his father had been chosen king, how he had defeated Goliath and won victories for Israel. He had heard the voice of God, "who had appeared to him twice".

You can place your trust in him.

Yet, despite all this, he turned away and chose to ignore God and all that he had done for him. His father David had written : "My soul, bless the Lord, and forget none of his benefits." 1 Kings 11.8

In our lives, we must be aware that we may be caught in the circumstances we are confronted with. We can be absorbed by our own problems, influenced by others, or carried away by our own passions and desires. That is why we must constantly remember the Word of God, what He promised us, what He taught us, and what He did for us.

Now, think of all that God has done for you. He saved you ? He forgave your sins ? He answered your prayers ? He has guided you and provided for your needs ? While you remember his benefits, do not turn your heart away from God. Rejoice and praise him. He has guided and blessed you in the past. He will guide you and bless you in the future. You can place your trust in him.

A prayer for today

Father, thank you for all that you have done for me. Forgive me for having taken your blessings as a due. I give you my life, my time, my talent and my resources. I love you. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
