What does God expect of us ?

You have been made to know, man, what is good and what the Lord requires of you : that you practice justice, that you love kindness, and that you walk humbly with your God. Micah 6.8

American author Philip Yancey wrote in his book Reaching the Invisible God (Vida Editions) : "I do not get to know God and then do his will, but I get to know him by doing his will."

If I want to know and deepen my relationship with the God who created me, it is important that I be aware of his expectations. God has provided, through Jesus, the possibility of having an intimate and unique relationship with him. However, this relationship is not one-sided. Certainly, we cannot do anything to deserve this gift of salvation that God has chosen to offer us, but that does not mean doing anything at all !

In a world where “fake news” serves as the truth, where the every man for himself syndrome takes precedence and where the proud are adulated for their prowess, the qualities that the Lord asks for will not make the buzz.

May we come to know God better by conducting ourselves righteously and enjoying kindness. Let us live in the humility that our status as creatures deserves before our Creator. Let us dare to act against the tide, not to please men but to please God.
