What God really wants from you

"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest : take my yoke upon you, and receive my instruction, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls." Matthew 11: 28-29

The key to this rest is in verse 29, which tells us to take its yoke upon us. To take his yoke is to ask God to help us, and then to act according to what he has shown us. We submit our will to God, we conform to His and obey Him.

If you have not given everything to God, do it today

I have discovered that our problems usually arise from our refusal to accept situations against which we are powerless. Let me give you an example: during the first years of our marriage, I was a hard-to-live person, due to abuse in my childhood. When things did not happen the way I wanted, I became angry ... and could remain so for a long time.

I spent my time thinking about what Dave was doing that displeased me, what I would have liked him to do, and what changes I wanted to see in his behavior. And as long as I tried to change Dave, my soul was not at peace. Now Dave is a wonderful man of God, and exactly the husband I need. It was a great revelation for me when I realized that my attitude made me unhappy, when in reality God had given me precisely what I needed. And then I accepted God's will for my marriage.

When we close an area of ​​our life to Christ instead of subjecting ourselves entirely to Him, it is a bit like we "go out with God" instead of marrying her. When I went out with Dave, I was free to do whatever I wanted, to come and go at my leisure and spend my money when I wanted to. But once I got married, I could not do anything I wanted, when I wanted and wanted, because there was someone else in my life. My will no longer belonged to me.

When you are married to Jesus, you no longer belong to you - he has acquired you at a great price, redeemed by his blood, and you are henceforth his own (1 Corinthians 6: 19-20). When you dwell in Christ, you can not lead your life as you wish. God wants you to give him everything you have and all you are. He wants you to depend entirely on him so that he can give you everything he is and everything he holds in store for you.

In 2 Corinthians 5: 17-21. I call it "the great exchange" :

- I give my sin to Jesus, and he gives me his righteousness.

- I give my life broken and dented, and it gives me its beauty.

"I give him my despair, and he gives me his hope."

"I give him my sadness, and he gives me his joy."

- I give him my inner agitation and my old way of life, and he gives me a new nature - his own - and his peace.

If you have not given everything to God, do it today. Tell him : "Lord, I love you and trust you, I do not want to resist you or oppose your will for my life, I am convinced that you will change what needs to be Instead of trying to change everything and everyone, I want to cooperate with you and let you change me."
