What hope for Israel ?

What hope for Israel ?

In fact, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to ignore this mystery, so that you do not take yourselves for wise men ; part of Israel became hardened until all the non-Jews entered. And a thus all Israel shall be saved, as the scripture says : The deliverer will come from Zion, and he will put away ungodliness from Jacob. And this will be my covenant with them, when I take away their sins. Romans 11: 25-27

How is it that the most powerful nations in the world are failing to resolve the Middle East question ? When the efforts of some statesmen appear to be on the verge of success, why does the situation worsen again ? From a human point of view, peace seems to be moving further and further away, as hateful passions are heightened between Palestinians and Israelis.

Christians know that the people of Israel have always been loved by God. Yet over the centuries, the Lord has seen fit to put him through many, many trials ! The reason has always been that these people turned away from him. Today, the Israelis seek to impose themselves by their intellectual and technical capacities, as well as by their military might. However, not only do they not want to believe in Jesus Christ who alone could give them peace, but in practice they deny the Lord, the God of their ancestors.

Perhaps, in his plans, God will allow the situation to improve. But it will only be temporary, for he has announced that one day Jerusalem will be surrounded by enemy armies, on the verge of final ruin. Only then will the Messiah present himself to those in utter despair.

When they recognize it, they will say : Where do these wounds on your hands come from ? (Zechariah 13: 6). They will testify that he is this Jesus whom they put to death, and of whom they said : May his blood be on us and on our children ! (Matthew 27:25). They will be upset at his sight, humbled and grieved for the crime they have committed (Zechariah 12:10). When this work of conscience and heart is finished, then the Messiah will deliver them from misfortune. He will destroy the armies assembled against Jerusalem, as in the days of King Hezekiah when, in one night, an angel destroyed those of the king of Assyria (2 Chronicles 32:21).

The events we are going through are in accordance with the indications of the Bible. The rapture of believers is approaching, which will be quickly followed by the apocalyptic judgments prior to Christ's restoration of Israel.
