What if it was today ?
Acts 16:26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; at the same time, all the doors opened, and the bonds of all the prisoners were severed.
Yesterday I spoke to you about the word "but", today I would like to speak to you about the word "aphno" in Greek which means "suddenly, suddenly, suddenly...". This word signals a sudden change in the situation! Paul and Silas were in prison, they had been beaten, mistreated and their fate was far from enviable. However, a supernatural fact opened the way for them to freedom.
This "suddenly" should strongly encourage us! We are sometimes stuck in difficult situations : we have the impression of being in prison, of suffering injustice, of also suffering rejection and abandonment… What a joy to know that there is a "suddenly" coming from "heaven" to get us out of this situation.
However, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that there is a "suddenly" trigger ! Paul and Silas did not spend their time lamenting, but they praised God. The demonstration of their faith took the path of song of gratitude. If we want to experience 'all of a sudden' we have to stay in that state of mind until the 'M' moment. Unconditional adoration of circumstances is like a chisel struck against a large aquarium : at some point, the glass will give way and release what is in the aquarium.
I can't help but think of Joseph, trapped in prison for several years, who woke up one morning as a prisoner like many other mornings and who ended this memorable day in the place of Prime Minister of Egypt.
May the Lord encourage you.
Have a good day.
