What is conscience ?

Do it with gentleness and respect, keeping a good conscience so that the same, where they slander you as if you were doing wrong, those who criticize your good conduct in Christ are shamed. 1 Peter 3:16

What is conscience ? God has put in each of us something that cries against us every time we do what we know to be wrong. Consciousness is the detective who watches the direction of our steps and decries every conscious transgression. Consciousness is a watchful eye before which every imagination, thought and action is held for censorship or approval.

I believe that there is no better argument for the existence of God in the world today than consciousness. There is no greater proof of the existence of a moral law and a legislator in the universe than this little light of the soul. It is the voice of God to the inner man. Consciousness is our counselor and our wisest teacher, our most faithful and patient friend.

Prayer for the day

Thank you, Father, for my conscience who controls me and protects my actions. Help me to be attentive to his inspirations, by Your Holy Spirit.
