What is your main talent ?
“We have different gifts, depending on the grace that has been given.” Romans 12.6
Learn to recognize your main gift, and make it the center of your life, otherwise you'll end up living with regrets in your head ! David understood that he was destined for more than the profession of a shepherd or a singer : he knew he was born to rule ! By killing Goliath, he finally had the opportunity to prove to others what he knew inside himself. If he had let the opportunity pass, he probably should have been content to watch his sheep. Know, however, that two dangers may blind us and prevent us from recognizing what constitutes our primordial talent :
1- The danger of being obsessed with our weaknesses and our faults. Instead of looking for what makes us strong, we listen too much to the criticisms made of us. But the relationships we have can either encourage us, or bring us down, or even limit our potential. Especially the relationships with those who are jealous of our success because it reveals their own failures. Remember the story of Joseph.
2- The danger of admiring the talent of others too much. It's only fair to appreciate their talents as long as you don't want to emulate them at all costs. God does not need a single clone of the one He created to begin with. Come out of the shadow of those you admire ; behave like Elisha who asked for a double portion of the spirit of Elijah, his mentor. You see, amazing people are just ordinary people who have discovered their unique talent and put it to use ! One last detail : your one-time donation may be withdrawn if you do not make it grow. Jesus said : "Take therefore the bag of money from him and give it to the one who has the ten bags of money... When to the useless servant, throw him into outer darkness" (Matthew 25.28-30) . So today ask God to help you discover the unique talent He has already bestowed on you, and then use it for His greater glory.
