What's my excuse ?

Thursday June 17, 2021

If you publicly acknowledge with your own mouth that Jesus is the Lord and if you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10. 9

What's my excuse ?

On a market stand, I hand a gospel to a passer-by, with these words : - It's free !

- I don't want to believe in Jesus Christ because I was deceived and robbed by someone who called himself a Christian, he answers quickly.

- Is that really the only reason ?

- Yes.

- Will you allow me to write it down in my logbook ?

- Of course, I write it to you myself !

I tear off this little note, and I give it to him, saying :

- Keep this note, you will give it to God when you appear before him on the day of judgment.

Barely at the end of the alley, he returns, paper in hand :

- My excuse is not valid... It's just a parade.

A serious conversation ensued, based on texts from the Bible. This man will find peace with God a little later. Jesus said : "Whoever hears my word and believes on him who sent me has eternal life ; he does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life" (John 5:24).

Others will say : "Religion is not for me... I have seen too much", or "My parents called themselves Christians, but what hypocrisy !"

You may also have your little piece of paper with so many examples of Christians who have shocked you with their behavior totally opposite to that of Christ. If they've made you sick of Christianity, don't stop there. Draw near to Jesus Christ, the only faithful and true witness of divine love. Such love that he gave his life on the cross for all those who believe in him. Come to Jesus, the only mediator between God and men. Him, will never disappoint you.
