What season are you living today ?

“Be prepared in any season, good or bad...” 2 Timothy 4.2

Our life goes through many seasons and each one has a beginning and an end. Diversity is thus the secret that guarantees longevity ! If you fail to understand this truth, you may lose sight of the purpose that should animate your whole life. Indeed, once you have reached the end of the stage of your life that you have just crossed (last season) you will have nothing to encourage you to move forward and approach the new stage (the season next). This idea of ​​the succession of seasons is found in agriculture: intelligent farmers know how to alternate their harvests, so as not to impoverish their fields too much. They plant wheat in the first and potatoes in the second. When the wheat season is over, they plow that field and let it rest. Then they do the same with the potato field. The following spring they do the opposite and so on from year to year. When Paul said to Timothy : "Be ready in any season, whether it is favorable or not..." he wanted to encourage him to broaden his spiritual horizon. As far as this young man was concerned, he was to learn that there is an appropriate time to correct and rebuke people and another time to encourage and support them (Review 2 Timothy 4:25). Knowing how to determine the right time for each action is important. The psalmist compared the man who enjoys divine blessings to “a tree which... bears fruit in its season...” (Psalm 1.3). If you want to be successful in the mission God has given you, you must learn to recognize what season you are going through ! And you must also understand that in the eyes of God the most important thing is not the height of your branches, but the depth of your roots. He is more interested in quality than quantity. This is why He uses your difficulties to create in your soul the favorable ground for the production of abundant fruit. One final warning : He will sometimes allow life storms to rob you of people or material possessions that were preventing you from becoming what He intended in His plan for your life ! This is where obedience comes into play.
