"But let him ask it with faith, without doubt, for he who doubts is like the wave of the sea, which the wind stirs up and uplifts ... it is an irresolute man, inconsistent in all his ways." James.1.6-8
Once God has given you a dream, you are faced with a decision : will you act accordingly ? This dream will remain at a standstill as long as you do not rise to realize it.
If you do not let go of the bar to hang on to the vision of God, the pendulum movement will continue.
This text of James 1 teaches us that faith is active and not passive. It's something you do. Making a decision is an act that builds faith. You work your muscles of faith.
The trapeze artist's image is a good illustration of God's plan. He swings by standing at the bar of a trapeze, then he releases to propel himself to another trapeze that comes to meet him. For a fraction of a second, it is not attached to any bar ; It is suspended in the air.
Have you ever left a job for another, with a latency in between ? You are suspended fifty yards above the void, with no net or anything to hang on.
But if you do not let go of the bar to hang on to the vision of God, the pendulum movement will continue. Only it will be less and less ample and will eventually stop completely. And there, there will be only one possible outcome : down.
When God gives you a dream, he places you at the foot of the wall, so that your faith will be strengthened as you move towards it.
A reflection for today
Did God ever put you at the foot of the wall in the past ? Faced with what decision do you find today ?
