What wind
They had run after gods who are only wind so that they themselves would no longer be but wind. 2 Kings 17.15
Our contemporaries are described as rational and materialistic. It is in the name of these values that they have been diverted from the teaching of the Bible, described as irrational and devoid of credible foundations.
Yet we are surrounded by tales, legends and virtual worlds poured out by all the screens. The best of the best today is to equip ourselves with blinders or “augmented reality helmets” to divert our gaze from the depressing realities that enslave us.
John Rostand (1894-1977), biologist, historian of science and atheist French academician wrote : “Science will explain everything ; and we will not be more enlightened. It will make bewildered gods of us." (In Funny Quotes, John Rivoire)
As for the Bible, it has much more credible foundations than all the authors of antiquity put together. Yet they are the ones who still serve as mentors for certain “modern” ideologies. The Bible clearly and irrefutably foretells events that happened, sometimes many centuries later. So, should we believe that we will soon be "stunned gods" or that we will be nothing more than wind because of having believed in chimeras rather than in the revelation of God, the Eternal ?
