When all seems lost

The Word became man, and dwelt among us. John 1.14

Imagine the celebrations in hell on the day of Jesus' crucifixion ! "The Word became man, and dwelt among us, […] the only begotten son of the Father […]". Yet, he just died on a cross... but the great feast with Satan has ended in its tracks !

One author wrote : "In the greatest about-face in history, what the devil envisioned for evil, God intended for good."

Jesus' death built a bridge between a perfect God and a fatally imperfect humanity.

On Good Friday, God conquered sin, defeated death, triumphed over Satan, and the Son returned to his family. He took the worst deed in history to make it the most resounding victory. No wonder Jesus asks us to never forget him.

"Jesus took the worst deed in history to make it the most brilliant victory."

Through the Cross we have hope : "By His stripes we are healed," and not by a miracle (Isaiah 53.5) ; and since God is able to obtain such a triumph from apparent defeat, imagine what He can do with your failings and failures. Nothing, not even the murder of his Son, can end the relationship between God and men.

Through the alchemy of redemption, the most excruciating crime becomes our healing power. Mortally wounded, the healer returned at Easter, the day that offers us a fleeting glimpse of Eternity (when all the evils of the earth will disappear, illuminated by divine light).

Faith begins when all seems lost.

Between the Cross and the empty grave hovers the historic promise : hope for the world and hope for every human being.

Jesus won ! He can also, like at the Cross, use our mistakes to bring out the best !
