When God is silent

When we look at his journey, we see that King David certainly started strong. The Holy Spirit came upon him, leading him to defeat a lion and a bear, and finally a Philistine giant. It seemed that there was no end to what God would do through his life, until a moment of silence came. Suddenly, God no longer spoke as He did, and David began to lose confidence. He lost confidence in the old words of God, which led him to try to guide his life by his own wisdom and to solve his problems in his own strength (see 1 Samuel 27: 1-3).

When David finally arrived at the end of himself, recognizing that following his own reasoning only brought him in incredible sadness, he returned to the source of his strength (see 1 Samuel 30: 1-3, 6). David encouraged himself in the Lord, remembering how God had always been faithful to him. And in this moment of remembrance, he turned to prayer. The voice of God became clear again, and the Lord finally brought him into the victory that had always been his.

It reminds you that in the midst of God's silence, you must resist the temptation to try to realize what God has told you to do in your life. Instead, encourage yourself in the Lord as David did. Remember how God has been faithful. Think of the words he first spoke to you about the victories that you have experienced that would never have occurred outside the work of the Holy Spirit in you. Sit down and say : "God, you've said a word to me, I understand there's a set time to get it done, the answer comes, and even though it may seem like a season that your promises have been overcome by circumstances, you are the God who can not lie !"
