When suffering knocks on your door...

Searching the Scriptures

Is any of you in pain ? Let him pray. James 5:13

Suffering is hardship, distress, problem and pressure that we will face throughout our life.

Over the years, I have observed the different actions that people take to cope with the suffering of life. Some will pick up their phones and start calling friends and family to talk about their problems... Others will try to find solace in food, alcohol, drugs, or immorality.

Going over the problem and repeating it to others will not help. Trying to drown out your worries or perpetuate addictions won't help you any more !

Other people will choose a better option and call their pastor or spiritual advisor for advice and prayer. Contacting your pastor or a counselor to ask for prayer and guidance is good, but it is not the only thing to do. When trial strikes you, do what James 5:13 advises you to do : pray !

When suffering knocks on your door, pray, but don't focus on the problem when you pray. When you turn to God, remind Him of His Word and speak it in faith. Ask him for wisdom, without doubting, and he will give it to you freely !

Listen the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God means. While you may be walking through the valley of the shadow of death, you do not fear, for He is with you.

Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example prayer : “Father, I ask for your wisdom so that I can handle the problems I am facing right now. I believe that I receive it and that I will act with the mind of Christ regarding every situation that I am facing. I'm crossing over. Thank you Father, in the name of Jesus. Amen."

Praise God

To praise God is to show him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. Write down the concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together.

"Thank you Lord for prayer... this solution which you offer me free of charge when suffering knocks at my door. Yours is the reign, the power and the glory, amen !"
