"Even if God does not ..." Daniel 3.18
King Nebuchadnezzar erected a gold statue of thirty meters high. Then he commanded that all the persons present should prostrate themselves before the idol at the sound of the instruments of music. Anyone who did not respect the order ordered by the king was condemned to death, thrown into a fiery furnace. Three Jews named Chadrak, Mechak and Abed-Nego refused to bow down and said : "If we are thrown into the furnace where a burning fire burns, our God whom we serve may deliver us from it... Do not (...), we shall not bow down to the statue" (Daniel 3: 17-18).
Take a stand for the Lord whatever the outcome is before you.
These men have proved their great fidelity to God. In other words, these three friends declared : "Even if God does not act according to our wishes, we will still be faithful to him until death." What integrity and devotion to God.
What would happen to us if God did not respond favorably to our expectations ? Would we be among those who slam the door by expressing their discontent ? Would we abandon the race thinking that God is too limited ? Or would we look like these three characters who surrender totally to the will of God ?
Take a stand for the Lord whatever the outcome is before you. Declare : "Lord, I know that you are able to deliver me from the trap of my enemies, to give me a job, to make money, to fulfill my dreams BUT even if you do not meet my desires, even if You do not do what I ask you, I remained faithful to you."
A decision for today
I decide to remain faithful to the Lord, whether he answers my request or not.
