Wherever you are, He is there too !
“My Father is continually at work, and I am also at work.” John 5. 17 New Fluent French Version
God declared to Jeremiah : “I know the plans which I prepare for you, not plans of woe, but plans of peace, in order to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29. 11 Version New Segond Bible). In light of this message, it would be tempting to believe that these plans of which the Lord speaks are somewhere, frozen in the future, and that our responsibility is to seek them out. In reality, His plans are constantly in development. Jesus explained it : “My Father is continually at work...” so the making of these plans follows our inner development. How could it be otherwise since God is always present, wherever we are, wherever we go. His plans are not only for the distant future, but for the present as well. God did not begin to work in Joseph's life when he became Pharaoh's counselor and steward of all Egypt. No, He was already at work during his adolescence, during his descent into Egypt. He worked in the shadows while Joseph took care of Potiphar's business, then when he found himself in prison. In fact, God was at work, pursuing His plans throughout Joseph's life. The same with Moses : he worked in his life while leading the Hebrew people to the Promised Land just as much as during his long stay in the Sinai desert. If you are part of His family, God is also continually working in your life to gradually transform you and make you like His son. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, God is there to encourage you, advise you, or discipline you when necessary. You can be sure that He cares too much about you to abandon His plans for your life. This certainty should make you more confident in His goodness and His ability to lead you on the right path. Finally, be assured that He “does not slumber nor sleep he who guards Israel” (Psalm 121. 4 New Bible Version New Segond) !
