Who do you know ?

Jeremiah 9:24 – Let him who wants to boast boast about having understanding and knowing me, knowing that I am the Eternal... For in this I delight, says the Eternal.

We are in an era where appearance is of great importance. As a result, many are those who will boast of their wealth, the property they hold, their appearance too. And we Christians are not exempt from these behaviors. We also like to boast of knowing such and such a servant of God or servant of God, we like to show off with them or to say : “I spent such and such a moment with...”, that immediately makes an impression ! Those who watch or listen to us tend to go wow, he's a good person, he's really a man or a woman of God because he or she knows so and so. My friends, we are leading ourselves astray by such behavior. Let us not be deceived as well because the back of the decor is often quite different.

When the prophet Samuel came to anoint a new man to be king, he was first introduced to one of Jesse's sons : Eliab. When the prophet Samuel saw him, he said to himself : "Surely he is the one the Lord has chosen." And the Lord responds : “This man is handsome and he is tall, but does not pay attention to that. I did not choose him."

Yes, Samuel seems to have stopped at first sight, but God is the one who does not look at appearances but who looks at hearts. Let's not look any more at appearance, moreover, as a saying goes which is not biblical but which corresponds well to what I write : "The habit does not make the monk". Then, as for the knowledge that we have, I can know the “greatest” servants or handmaidens of God ; it is not with the people I know that the Lord will stop but with who I am before his eyes and in my knowledge of the Lord Himself !

Oh, that sets the record straight, don't you think ? Let us stop all these modes of functioning and let our prayer be : "Lord, I only want to boast of one thing : it is to know You, You, the only true God, and I do not want to dwell on appearances but I want to see with Your eyes and Your heart".

Good reflection.
