Who is he who is victorious ?

"Who is he who is victorious in the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God ?" 1 John 5. 5

As Christian parents, we can teach our children good manners, teach them to speak well, guide them in their choices, accompany them in their learning ... This is important, but will not give them the means to win, in their life, victory over the world over its seductions and threats.

We can surround them with love, tenderness, bring them the warmth and safety of a Christian family, devote a lot of time to them ... All this is essential to their development, but will not give them the solution to triumph over the world.

We can give them the example of parents who love and respect each other, who seek to please the Lord, to honor Him ... It is the basis of a family according to God, but it will not provide them with the key to live in this world.

We can take them to church, read the Bible with them, teach them age-appropriate songs, invite children or young people to form a group of friends, organize a children's club ... This circle is essential to a balanced social and spiritual life, but it will not teach them the secret of victory over the world.

The one who really triumphs over the world is not the child who knows good manners, the pupil who is among the best in his class, the young person who is friendly, dynamic, good in every respect, but "he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God".

As the apostle John testifies in his gospel, we possess eternal life simply by faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God : "All this has been written so that you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. and that in believing you have life by his name" (John 20. 31).

Only the man born of God, possessing eternal life, can evaluate the perishable elements of this world in a just way, in the light of eternity, and not let them have a hold on him. By the mere faith of the Son of God, come to bring salvation and life, the child of God is delivered from the world, he is victorious as his Savior was (John 16. 33).

Let us pray that all our children possess the unshakable conviction that Jesus is the Son of God, that he alone can keep them from evil !
