The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
The Lord is gracious and he is righteous ; our God is filled with compassion. Psalm 116. 5
Who is responsible ?
It is so easy to place the responsibility for human suffering on God. It is a common argument among those to whom God appears very distant : "How could a powerful and good God allow so much suffering ? How is it that he does not better protect his creature against the blows of fate ?"
God Himself answers this question in the Bible. He teaches us that the estrangement of man from God is the root cause of the misfortunes of mankind.
In the Garden of Eden, where God had placed man after he had created him, there was no suffering, disease, or death. All of this was the consequence of disobedience (Romans 5:12).
Then, men wanted to do without God. He was patient and did not immediately kill sinners. He took care of them, even though he wanted to live their life as they wanted, forgetting that they owe him everything. God, who does not force anyone, set them free, and the world suffered the results of a management that did not take God into account.
The only person responsible is therefore man, who did not want to enter into God's plan of love for him. But, for all that, God did not abandon his creature. He loves us, even disobedient and sinful ones, and has a plan of grace and forgiveness for us. He gave his Son, who sacrificed himself to abolish sin and its consequences (Hebrews 9. 26). To benefit from this deliverance, man must confess his faults to God and accept his forgiveness, through faith in Jesus Christ.
