Why seek Jesus ?

“You know, your father and I were very worried and we looked for you everywhere. "Why did you look for me ?" Jesus answered them. Luke 2.48-49

While he was on earth, many people sought out Jesus for various, sometimes conflicting, reasons.

It is legitimate for parents to worry and to seek out their twelve-year-old child who has escaped their vigilance. But why look for him when he was an adult ?

Some have sought him to put him to death, others to be healed or to see his miracles. Some are still looking for him today, but why so long after his death ?

When Joseph and Mary found Jesus in the Temple in Jerusalem, he was talking with teachers who marveled at his intelligence. Others, who came later to arrest him, will say : No one ever spoke like this man (John 7:46). Jesus spoke well, but not only : he spoke the truth. His miracles and his healings brought weight to his words, he was the envoy of God in the world to save the world (John 3.17). Do you sincerely believe that the world no longer needs saving today ? I doubt. Or that Jesus' words have become less intelligent ? Why not seek to find out in the Gospel ? It is the power of God by which he saves all who believe (Romans 1:16).
