We all have a secret grave in our lives. I'm talking about something or someone we abandoned a long time ago. We buried him, placed a tombstone on it and wrote the date of his death on it.
I think of a dear acquaintance who told me, my wife and I, went to the graduation ceremony of his children. The husband of this woman had left him several years before for another woman. At the ceremony, the husband and his new wife came, with several members of his new family.
As it must have been difficult for her. At that time, our friend's former marriage was far beyond any hope of resurrection and she had accepted it. Yet, as she sat a few meters away from her ex-husband and her new family, God urged her to return to her marriage cemetery. With obedience, she began to pray for the salvation of her former husband, as well as that of his wife.
Why do such a thing ? She wanted him to rise from the death of sin. You see, because she knew Christ, she refused to give up before death. She walked with the assurance that Jesus still has the power of resurrection to bring the dead back to life.
Our Lord brings the dead back to life and He never abandons. All that is needed is His Word, His breath, and suddenly, what seems dead and hopeless comes back to a new life.
Not only did Jesus proclaim authority over death : "I am the resurrection and the life" (John 11:25), but He proved it !
Will we dare to believe what Jesus said about the resurrection and apply it to our lives ?
