Mark 14.3 – Jesus was the guest of Simon “the leper” in Bethany. During the meal, a woman approaches him, holding in her hands an alabaster bottle filled with real nard, a very rare and very expensive perfume. She breaks the neck of the bottle and begins to pour the perfume on the head of Jesus.

If you read this whole story, you will see that Jesus really honored this woman, going so far as to say that wherever the good news was announced, it would be talked about. However, this gesture may seem wasteful since this perfume was indeed very expensive, almost a year's salary.

We have such a “productive” idea of ​​faith. We want results the way investors want them. Evangelization effort = so many conversions. We forget that God crossed the universe to become man, that He prepared himself thirty years for only three years of ministry and that finally He left only a small group of people to continue his work. A lot of investment for few apparent results. However, from this small group the good news of Jesus has come down to us and today it is preached all over the world.

I know that sometimes discouragement seizes us in front of the “little results” of our efforts to make things happen, but ultimately the result belongs to God. Let us expend ourselves without counting in obedience to our God, He will be so happy that He will honor us before all when his day comes and He will use this gift of our life to bring about his results for Him.
