Your personal choices
Those who had seen what had happened told them how the demonic had been healed. All the inhabitants of the country of the Gerasenes prayed to Jesus to move away from them, for they were seized with great fear. Jesus got into the boat and returned. Luke 8:36-37
Something dramatic has just taken place. With one word, Jesus delivered a man from the demons that possessed him and made him a threat to society. Instantly he was released !
We might think that the people of this community could have been moved and relieved. Instead, they were "seized with great fear." Jesus had shown them that the power of God was available to them. He was there and he could have healed their sick and met their needs. But instead of wanting this power in their lives, they "asked Jesus to get away from them." Although this man was troublesome, the locals preferred him when he was possessed by demons.
The point is that many, like these Gerasenes, do not want anything that could be seen as a radical change. They want a quiet faith that preserves some sort of status quo and allows them to conform to the world. Others do not believe that divine power is available to them, or that miracles exist.
"God wants you to know that His life changing power is real, and available to you, right now."
Ultimately, the choice is ours : Do we really want the power of God in our lives ?
God wants you to know that his life changing and earthquake power is real and is available to you, right now. It’s the power that can transform your life. God offers blessings and extraordinary power, if you want to believe in him and if your faith does not compromise. Don't limit what he can do for you. Have faith and believe !
A prayer for today
Father, I ask for more of your power in my life. I give you my needs today. I believe that you can do extremely and abundantly more than I can ask or think. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
