A living and true God

It is told (...) how you turned to God by abandoning idols to serve as a living and true God. 1 Thessalonians 1.9

Kom Bahadur Tamang lived in Kapure, a Nepalese village. His wife and daughter were dead, no matter how much he spent all his money on the healer. In 1955, the monsoon triggered a terrible landslide. The people uttered desperate cries to their gods and begged their forgiveness with animal sacrifices. However, the whole village disappeared into the abyss. Having lost everything, Kom and two of his sons, one of whom was seriously ill, set out for Pokhara, the great city in the west, where Nepalese Christians, returning from India, had just founded the first Church in Nepal. Noah, one of them, met Kom who told him about his dying son. Noah told him about Jesus, his death for our sins, his resurrection. Kom's son, emaciated, was lying on a mat on the floor. He was no longer eating. His whole body ached. Noah put his hands on the sick man and asked Jesus to give him mercy. The terrible pains left the son for good. He was healed. Seeing this Kom gave his life to Jesus. He threw away the idol he had taken from Kapure. Lok, his other son, also believed in Jesus who, he says, is greater than any deity on the mountain.
