A shepherd's story !

Luke 15: 4 - What man of you...

A simple definition of the word shepherd, or pastor, would be this : someone who takes care of sheep !

Our first shepherd takes good care of 99% of his flock. He looks after them, he feeds them, he watches over them... in short, he does his job well. Of course, he takes full advantage of what the herd brings him : he has wool, milk with which he makes cheese, sometimes he makes himself a leg... In short, a full life with certain advantages.

Our second shepherd apparently only cares about 1% of the flock. Worse, he leaves 99% of the herd behind to go to who knows where. He completely abandons the comfortable situation of the sheepfold to face the cold, the dark night to go in search of the sheep or sheep that have strayed. He pushes his investigations until he finds them. They are sheep : but what nonsense could they have committed so as not to end up with the others in the fold ? They are of "bad life", what interest do they represent so that this shepherd leaves everything for them ?

Which of these shepherds most resembles our Master ? To find out, although if you know a little of the Word of God you know it, read the rest of our base verse.

Was he not the One who said : "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel" (Matthew 15:24).

Good reflection.
