Tick-tock

Redeeming the time. Colossians 4.5

I was invited to a friend's house in a beautiful part of Sweden. Their chalet was a rustic building, equipped with all modern comforts necessary to ensure a pleasant stay. My bed was on a wooden platform above part of the living room. It suited me perfectly, except when I got up "on the wrong side of the bed"...

I have to admit that I didn't get much sleep for two reasons. The first : my bed was lit like daylight 22 hours a day, because the nights in central Sweden are very short in July. The second : there was at eye level a large clock on the living room wall ; the sound of the tic-tock was more than enough to keep me awake at all times, even without a light.

The clock had a peculiarity : it had no more hands, they had disappeared or had broken. Time passed happily, but the clock did not show the time. Couldn't tell if it was two or six... all she communicated was the passing seconds.

The clock of our existence on earth is also tirelessly "tick... tock...". Like the clock of my Swedish hosts, it does not indicate the time on the dial of our lives. It is impossible to say how long it stays there...

What we do with the time available is much more important than asking ourselves when it will run out. Time is running out, and we will not catch up with it.
