"Jesus, having looked upon him, said : Simon, son of Jonah, you shall be called Cephas, which means Peter." John 1.42
When Jesus sees Simon, the future Apostle Peter, he tells him about his future : "One day you will be".
To believe that one becomes the desired person with a magic wand is a false belief. Between Simon the impetuous and the Apostle Peter, the column of the Jerusalem church, years have passed. Lessons have been learned: by being at the feet of Jesus, living the miraculous catch, walking on the waters, knowing failure by denial, enjoying the restoration of his calling, experiencing the immersion of the Holy-Spirit on the day of Pentecost, etc. It took Simon years to become Peter.
Have the courage to take small steps.
People often give up their walk because they would like to be perfect overnight. In real life it does not work that way. With such a mentality, Simon would never have become Peter. Enter a new dynamic, that of taking small steps every day towards the promises of God. It does not matter, if for others it seems remarkable or insignificant. Make the choice to move forward. And even if one day you fall, ask for forgiveness, then put yourself back in working order.
Perfectionism is a terrible thing. The Bible rather teaches us to perfect ourselves and the difference between the two is major. Being perfectionist implies that I will wait to be perfect to start ... I will wait until my idea is impeccable. PERFECT is the key word.
While perfecting implies that I am not perfect but I will still move forward while continuing to improve. The idea is to grow ... "Done" is better than "perfect". We do not know for sure, but we prefer to move forward. Not tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, but today.
If you make the decision to take a small step each day, imagine where you will be in a month, a year, a decade ... What would your life be like if you agreed to build brick by brick ?
Have the courage to live the life you want. To dare to do something new that touches you, corresponds to you. Raise your business, apply, take evening classes. Whatever, move on. It is not too late. Have the courage to take small steps. To succeed does not mean not to stress, the most important thing is to move forward, step by step, brick by brick.
A decision for today
Even if my pace seems insignificant, I take the decision to move forward.
