And if you forgive ?

"But God has shown us how much he loves us : Christ died for us while we were still sinners." Romans 5.8

For several years, I voluntarily deprived my children of their grandmother. I kept her away and our relationship ended with a few phone calls. This woman who had abandoned me at birth had to suffer the consequences ! "Fracture for a fracture, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, the same wound will be made to him ..." Leviticus 24.20

When God asks us to forgive, He gives us the strength to fulfill His will.

I often come across the topic of forgiveness with people who have been offended and I let them know that forgiveness is an act of grace through which we identify with Jesus Christ. He, the innocent was sentenced in our place. "But he was wounded for our sins, broken for our iniquities, and the chastisement that hath given us peace, and by his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53.4

It is clear that on the human level, forgiveness sometimes seems uncertain, not to say impossible. However, when God asks us to forgive, He gives us the strength to do His will.

Today, decide to take your eyes off the injury of the offense you have suffered. Take a firm decision to forgive and ask God to come and heal your wound. What He did for me, He will do it for you too !

This Christmas we will spend the holidays with the family and it will be a great opportunity for the children to give a gift to their grandmother. Yes, when possible, forgiveness helps rebuild destroyed relationships.

A prayer for today

Father, I decide to forgive and ask you to put your hand on my heart so that it may be healed and restored. In the name of Jesus ! Amen.
