"But faith is the firm assurance of the things we hope for, the demonstration of those we do not see, and it is because of it that the elders have received a favorable testimony." Hebrews 11: 1-2
It is a firm assurance in achieving what we hope.
It is a way of possessing it already in advance.
To believe is to be absolutely certain of the reality of what we do not see.
If the men of old were approved by God, it is because they had that faith.
Your faith will defeat your enemies and make you victorious.
In 2007, we lived in Troyes. Christophe and I decided to spend two days in Paris with our three daughters of 11, 8 and 4 years old. The presidential elections had just taken place and our youngest, Héloïse, had been passionate about the campaign and the elections. As soon as she knew that we were going to Paris, she declared with faith and assurance : "Since we are going to Paris, I am going to see the President of the Republic ! His father and I explained to him that, firstly, Paris was very big, and secondly, we could not approach the president like that. We did not want her to be disappointed ! But she was not angry. She had asked the Lord. She would see it, it was sure.
While we were walking in the center of Paris, we saw a procession of sedans with smoked windows. Nicolas Sarkozy was inside. He stopped his car, went down the street and came to greet us and shake hands without forgetting Heloise ! "So, what did I tell you, I knew that I would see him !" She says proudly. That day God spoke to us through the simple faith of our daughter and we took a good lesson !
Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11: 6). If you do not believe God, you hurt his heart deeply and you deprive yourself of his blessings. It's like you're saying : "No, thank you, I do not think you can, you're not up to it, I do not want what you give me."
The Lord honors the faith of those who are simple. Not faith in anything or anyone. Faith in his promises. Faith in his word. This is why it is important to read the Bible, to study it, to meditate on it and that it is also essential to maintain this relationship of trust and this daily dialogue with God. God speaks to your spirit every day. Pray without ceasing, says the Apostle Paul (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
God approves of your faith, he is a witness of it, and he will praise loudly and truly your confidence before his angels and the evil powers. That's why your faith will kill your enemies and make you victorious.
A prayer for today
Lord, forgive me for the times I have bruised you with my unbelief. I just want to believe in your promises without talking and be simple as a child. Amen.
