Many believers have made the same experience. Placed in humanly very difficult circumstances, they retained the certainty that God was not indifferent to their situation. They believed in God when he did not show himself; They believed that he was love and power when he seemed to be hiding; They believed that he was sovereign and wanted their good while everything went wrong for them. Their faith in God was thus put to the test, but they are declared blessed, for they have remained firm.
Abraham might not understand that God is asking him to sacrifice his son on the altar of Moriah, but he believes against all human hope.
David could not understand that God allows Saul to chase him as he hunts "a partridge in the mountains", when he knows that the Lord foresaw that he would become king.
In the time of Esther, God seemed to hide from his Jewish people. Everything seemed left in the hands of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. From a human point of view, the situation was hopeless. Yet Mordecai had confidence that God would not forget the Jews and would act to deliver them.
When our Lord is nailed to the cross, everything seems lost to him. But his absolute faith in his God is expressed in the prophecies of the TA. : "Thou shalt not forsake my soul at Sheol (in the abode of the dead), and thou shalt not suffer thy holy to see corruption" (Psalm 16: 10). And the cry he threw on the cross - "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" - was not the cry of a desperate man. This word now finds an echo of hope in our hearts, for "[God] is not the God of the dead, but of the living; Because for him all live ", as Jesus had reminded the Sadducees who denied the resurrection (Luke 20:38).
Christians, never lose confidence, even in the most agonizing hours of our lives. God can not abandon his children and he is never insensitive to our sufferings. If he allows the trial, it is because it is useful for us to ripen and prepare for the final stage which will be that of glory with Christ.
