Believe that God keeps His promises

I had confidence when I said : I am very unhappy. Psalm 116.10

Did you know that acknowledging your despair before God is a word of faith ? While trusting in God, David passed through times of discouragement during which he wrote: "I trusted when I said : I am very unhappy."

This trust in the Word of God enabled Job to remain faithful ...

One has the impression that it is contradictory to trust God and be discouraged at the same time !

In fact, David's frankness reveals a profound faith :

• First, he believed in God

• Second, he had faith that God listened to his prayers

• Third, he was convinced that God would let him express his feelings while still loving him.

It is the same with Job. When circumstances were unfavorable to him, Job relied on God and was able to say : "I have not given up the command of his lips ; I have treasured my will to the words of his mouth" (Job 23:12).

While his life was completely spoiled and God remained silent, Job still found reasons to praise him :

• He is good and he is love (Job 10.12)

• He is all-powerful (Job 37:23)

• He watches over every detail of my life (Job 31: 4)

• He is in control (Job 34:13)

• He has a plan for my life (Job 23:14)

• He will save me (Job 19:25)

This confidence in the Word of God enabled Job to remain faithful despite the incomprehensible situation he was going through. In his grief he retained a firm faith (Job 13:15).

Raymond Edman said : "Never doubt in the darkness what God has told you in the light."

Believe that God is keeping His promises. During the spiritual dryness of time, you must patiently rely on the promises of God, not your emotions, and realize that God leads you to a deeper level of maturity.

Do not let trouble disturb you. Circumstances can not change the character of God. It is still on your side, even if you do not feel it.

Action for Today

Take time to consider the immutable nature of God. Whatever the circumstances or your feelings, cling to the immutable character of God. Re-examine what you know about the eternal truth of God. It is good. He loves you. He's with you. He knows your current situation. He cares about you and he has a wonderful plan for your life.
