But when does everything go wrong ?

When nothing is going well, who to turn to ? It is often in the midst of seemingly intractable difficulties that humans turn to God. During the last war, neighbors, during the bombardments, came to take refuge with us rather than in the shelter dug in the neighboring park... because they knew we were Christians.

This does not mean that safety, health, the solution of all problems are guaranteed when one surrenders to God. They are deceiving you, those who preach this !

On the other hand, the trials or problems, we no longer live them alone.

When Michel Delpech, star of the yé yé years, said his faith in a recent book : "God does not send us trials, but when they arise, he goes through them with us", he in fact takes up the affirmation of Isaiah.

With good reason, for God cannot be the author of evil, nor of trials (James 1:13). But he allows them because they are formative, because they push us to seek him. How good it is, when they "fall on us", to know someone by our side, how reassuring to cross them our hand in his, to know that he cries with us if we cry. Faith is first of all that certainty. It is true that through the pen of Isaiah it was to Israel his people that he promised it. But would he do less to us if we entrust our lives to him ?
