Come to my rescue
Come quickly to my aid, Lord, my salvation ! Psalm 38.23
Hiking in the Cévennes, a man and his young son, absorbed by the beauty of the landscape, were surprised to find themselves on the edge of a precipice. The boy slipped down the steep slope, but managed to hang on to a thin bush nonetheless. It was impossible for him to make the slightest movement to regain solid ground. Her father was on the rock and, lying on the ground, it took a few inches at most to reach him.
- Raise a hand above your head, I can grab it.
- Impossible, he yelled, if I let go, I fall !
- Do not be afraid. Do exactly what I tell you. Raise your right arm as high as possible. Trust me !
The boy understood that it was a matter of life and death and slowly he raised his arm without even seeing his father. He was starting to slip when a strong hand grabbed him. Seconds later he was saved.
Friend reader, without God you are in danger of death. It is enough for you to put your whole trust in the one who wants your salvation to lead you to eternal life.
Take without delay the helping hand that Jesus Christ extends to you and in a surge of heart, simply say to him : Listen to my pleas when I cry out to you, when I raise my hands towards your sanctuary. (Psalm 28.2)
It is to such a prayer that he will be sensitive and answer.
