Commit : it is concrete action !

Matthew 12.36 - I say to you, on the day of judgment men will give an account of every empty word they speak.

Commitment goes far beyond a simple word, but it is about taking concrete action. Imagine, for example, that you have found a job and your outing schedule does not match your child's schedule out of school. One of your friends agrees to pick up your child after class, but she only stops at the word given : it is not followed by a concrete act. You get out of your job and go to your friend's house to pick up your child. She opens the door and tells you that she does not have your child. What would your reaction be ?

We are in a system where the word given, the commitment made, no longer have any value. We tell lie after lie and brandish : "Proud to be Christians." Some publications, moreover, advocate commitment without action, even on the part of Christians. Indeed, it is not uncommon to read this type of publication : "In order to express our compassion to those who are suffering or those who are hungry, or... put a word or an emoticon under this com". Honestly, you believe that putting an emoticon under such a post will change the lives of those who suffer for x reasons. No, the Word of God asks us to share our bread with the hungry. To bring the unfortunate without asylum into our house. If we see a naked man, cover him. Not to turn away from our fellow man. (Isaiah 58.7). James 2:16 also tells us : "If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them : Go in peace, warm yourselves and be satisfied ! and you do not give them what is necessary for the body, what is it for ?".

My friends, it is high time we got our act together. Isn't it written that faith without works is dead ? There has been a verse in my heart for several months : “The night is coming, when no one can work” (John 9.4). It is interesting to read just that which precedes this passage of the scriptures : "I must do, while it is day, the works of him who sent me." That I DO, we could say, that I act.

There is a song which is not Christian but which one day strongly appealed to me. You may not know her, but you can listen to her if you want. In this song, it says this : "She prefers to be silent but to do what is to be done". It may only be a drop in the sea, but it will rejoice the heart of our Father. So, instead of talking and doing nothing : let's act !
