"How long, O LORD ! will you ever forget me ? How long will you hide your face ? How long will I be troubled in my soul, and every day of sorrow in my heart ? Will the enemy rise up against me ?" Psalms 13: 2-3
David is at the height of despair. He feels that his enemy is stronger than he. He is shaken, crushed by circumstances. His emotions and thoughts falter and he loses his foot. He recognizes that his eyes reflect the darkness of his heart and he begs God to enlighten them. He is about to give up because he has the feeling that his opponents have the upper hand (Psalms 13: 4-5). He needs God to perform a sovereign work and fill it with His light.
Do not give in to despair and discouragement
But when he affirms his confidence in the goodness of the Lord and rejoices in his salvation, he emerges victorious from the trial (Psalm 13: 6). He realizes that God is good and faithful and can count on him.
Moreover, David does not allow circumstances prevent him from praising God. On the contrary, he leaves his heart to express his praise : "I will sing to the Lord, for he has done me good" (Psalm 13: 6). God is worthy to be praised, even when David does not understand how he will come to help.
Today, whatever you live in, you can entrust your life to God. He is good and faithful, benevolent and merciful. Do not let the darkness of the world dominate your heart and thoughts, and yield not to despair and discouragement. Choose instead to praise God. While you trust him and praise him, you will see with amazement your attitude change. Bring up a song of praise from your heart and let God deliver you.
