Do not feel sorry for on self

"Why are you depressed, my soul, and are you troubled within me ? Wait for God ; For I will also celebrate him : his face is my salvation." Psalm 42. 5

Life on earth, even that of the child of God, is not a long, quiet river ! We all go through difficult times, physical, moral or psychological suffering due to the difficulties of our journey. We see around us some of our fellow-men, who seem to smile, seem to know no problem ; But is it certain ? Perhaps they have hidden pains, known sufferings of God alone ? We also see people around us who are going through very painful hardships ! So let's stop being egocentric and relate everything to ourselves ; Let us stop pitying ourselves ; This is not what God desires !

Self-pity is a bottomless pit; If we fall into it, we are likely to sink deeper and deeper into the path of depression !

We have a hope, lift our heads to see the divine light manifest and enlighten us ! Even if this light seems weak from where we are, at the bottom of the abyss, its rays of hope can reach us at any depth. We can then say like David : "I waited patiently for the Lord ; And he leaned toward me, and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the mire mire ; And he set my feet upon a rock, and set my steps" (Psalm 40: 1, 2).

Shouting to God and focusing on him in a trusting way allows us to free ourselves from this abyss of despair, to reach out to catch his own ; He wants to pull us out of the darkness and introduce us into his full light. His desire is to respond to those who trust in him : "The pleasure of the Lord is in them that fear him, in them that expect his mercy" (Psalm 147: 11).

My God, grant me not to pity myself but to seek you in all circumstances ; You never fail and your hand is always stretched out towards me ! Give me, on the other hand, to be sensitive to the sufferings of others and to help them with my feeble means.
