Experience his grace and his peace !

Search the Scriptures

to the saints who are in Colosse, our faithful brothers and sisters in Christ : Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ ! Colossians 1.2

Paul liked to begin his letters with two specific words to encourage the saints : grace and peace. The Greek word for grace is charis, and it has several meanings. In the Old Testament it usually meant favor, but there are over 20 other expressions of the word "grace" in the Bible, all of which relate to the ministry of the Holy Spirit to us. Grace can refer to benefits, being covered, works of God, acknowledgment to God, and more. One of the terms also used for grace is eirene. It encompasses peace, wholeness and tranquility.

Why does Paul use grace and peace in sequence ? Isn't that redundant ? In French, there is only one word for "peace". In fact, some people cannot grasp the significance of Godly peace. Everyone wants peace, but since many cannot comprehend God's definition of it, they try to get it the wrong way.

The world thinks peace is being in a quiet place with no noise around you ; it is the feeling one has when the children are asleep, when nothing is happening around you, but that is not how God conceives peace.

Paul taught that the peace of God was best understood by the Hebrew word shalom, which means "nothing missing", "nothing broken".

"Nothing missing" means you have everything you need to do everything you need to do ; "nothing broken", that you can fix behaviors that are not in accordance with God's will.

Listen the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Experience this peace now as God designed it for you.

Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, you said that we are the bringers of peace. Because I have found peace in you, help me to use it to change things in this world. Amen. "

Praise God

To praise God is to express our gratitude to him. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a time to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now, deepen what you have received. What can you put in place to apply what God has told you ? Write down concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Lord, thank you for giving me your peace, an unshakable peace. To you be the reign, the power and the glory, amen !"
