Fight your giants

“Pay no attention to how he looks and how tall he is.” 1 Samuel 16.7

Humans that we are appearances too often judge others without knowing anything about them. King Saul's soldiers saw Goliath advance before them every day for over a month, forty days to be precise, to challenge them to a duel : “Choose a man who will come down against me! If he can beat me and kill me, we will be your slaves. But if I get the better of him and kill him, you will be our slaves and you will serve. The Philistine said again : Today I challenge the army of Israel : Give me a man to fight together !” (after 1 Samuel 17.8-10). All the “giants” you meet in your life will look like him. Chuck Swindoll wrote : “The fear or worry giants for example will not challenge you just once. They will come to you every morning and night, day after day, constantly trying to intimidate you. Sometimes they will take on the appearance of a person, or a recurring worry... There are few issues in life that are more stubborn and intimidating than your fears or worries, especially if you want to face them with your own strength." But notice what happened when God sent the prophet Samuel to choose the next king of Israel. He said to him : “Do not pay attention to his appearance and his great stature... It is not a question here of what men see : man looks at what strikes the eyes, but the Lord looks at the eyes. heart” (1 Samuel 16.7). Goliath had everything to frighten Saul's soldiers. And David would not have escaped the rule if he had seen Goliath with the eyes of a young man inexperienced in handling weapons. But he saw Goliath through the eyes of God : “I walk against you in the name of the Lord, the master of the universe, in the name of the God of the host of Israel whom you have insulted” (1 Samuel 17 .45). So the giant couldn't intimidate or frighten him. Even if your giant seems impossible to bring down, remember that God is almighty.
