Focus yourself on the promises

"Fortify yourself only and have good courage, acting faithfully according to all the law that Moses, my servant, has commanded you, do not turn aside either to the right or to the left, in order to succeed in all that you undertake." Joshua 1.7

Once Moses died, Joshua became the leader of the people of Israel. The Lord spoke to him, giving him precious advice to succeed. After urging him to be strong and courageous, he invited him to keep the focus on teaching the word of God. It must have been his line of sight, neither more nor less.

Focus your attention in the right direction.

And even if the enemies are numerous, the only important thing would be to keep your eyes on the promises of the Lord. The trials might rage, God said : "I will give you this land" : His word would be fulfilled because God does not lie.

If on this day you are defeated by trying circumstances, rather than rehearse this in your heart, do as Mary who kept repeating the promises of the Lord in her.

By constantly visualizing in your mind a hurtful story, you will make yourself unhappy. Would you watch an unbearable movie several times in a row ? Of course not ! So why do you keep a bad movie in you ? It is very easy to indulge in negative feelings but the result will be doubt. "Did the Lord really say ... ?" Doubt is a poison for faith.

That's why, focus your attention in the right direction. When Job exclaims : "What I fear is what happens to me, what I dread is what strikes me." Job 3.25 He merely notes a fact. This is not a coincidence but a cause-and-effect relationship. This is why Jesus repeatedly says : "Do not be afraid, just believe." Mark 5.36 Jesus also said to his disciples, "Behold, I have given you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and on all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall be detrimental to you." Luke 10.19

Do not be afraid, do not be frightened by the power of satan, as strong as it is. The promises of God are "Yes" and "Amen" in Jesus. Move forward with your eyes fixed on the right goals. His word is certain and it will be fulfilled.
