Follow the "good sheepherd"

"Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you in addition." Matthew 6.33

In this verse, Jesus declares two things. The first is that one must seek the kingdom of God - it means the way God acts. Do not seek the advice of your mother, father, friends or counselor. Find the method by which God acts, and follow it.

In his Word, God clearly states his ways.

You may have heard a preacher say that God's ways are mysterious. God's ways are not secret and are not hidden from you. In his Word, God clearly states his ways. You will find them in his Word.

The second statement of Jesus is that we must seek the justice of God. In Matthew 6.33 the Greek word translated "justice" is sometimes translated as "prosperity". In the same way that kings oversee the economy of their kingdom, God makes sure his economy is prosperous.

When you act according to God's methods and follow Jesus, the "good shepherd" will lead you into the green pastures of his provision because the kingdom of God is a place of abundance.

An action for today

Have you reached your place of blessing ? The good shepherd knows where his sheep will be watered and fed. Ask God where your blessing is and follow him there.
