Give me intelligence !

Psalm 119.114 - ... Give me intelligence...

Four times in this psalm, the psalmist makes this prayer to God : “Give me intelligence !". The word intelligence here does not mean special intellectual faculties but has the meaning of discernment, of understanding by the mind. Now, the psalmist asks this in relation to the Word of God.

How many times in our life have we asked God, “Give me ?". Probably we've said it often, but what did we add ? Give me prosperity, give me a spouse, give me work, give me housing, give... Solomon could ask what he wanted but his prayer was : "Therefore grant your servant a heart. intelligent to judge your people” (1 Kings 3: 9). Not only did God give him what he asked for, and we know how famous Solomon's wisdom was, but he also obtained riches and glory.

When we open the Word of God, we have a deep need for discernment. Understanding by revelation what God wants to tell us is the greatest gift. If we fully discerned the Word of God, we would inherit everything else. Unfortunately, for many, reading the Word is a religious act that must be performed on a regular basis.

Beloved, the Lord having revealed his Word to the children, even if the world takes us for “fools”, we can have a lot of intelligence for God. What is important is to discern who God is through what He says. To do this, we must not be religious but in love with the Lord. Reading his Word will then become a real treat.

Good reflection.
