"I sent you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 4:17).

 

In the family of the South African pastor Andrew Murray, there were eleven children who survived to adulthood. Five of the son became pastors and four of their daughters married servants of God. Among their small children there were ten thirteen pastors and missionaries. The loyalty and dedication of parents and grandparents were found in subsequent generations. Faithfulness to God is like scarlet fever, it is spread !

Here Paul refers to the fidelity of Timothy and speaks of it as a spiritual heritage. Timothy had under his eyes, a living model of fidelity (2 Timothy 3:10). As a "spiritual father," Paul had passed on to his son in the faith, the importance of fidelity in the Lord.
Through our genes we pass on to our children, various physical and psychic character, through our education we can convey their various values ​​like the importance of work, honesty, cleanliness ... through our fidelity Christian, we can transmit them the importance of faithfulness to God.

A young atheist student had invited one of his believers, students also come to listen to a famous agnostic lecturer. At the end of the powerful speech, the young atheist told his friend : "After this speech that he left you to your old faith ? "What the young believer replied :" What is left to me ? Well I still have the life of my mother ! "This young man thinking, had had before him the example of sincere faith and an unshakable fidelity, which enabled him to keep the faith and remain faithful despite persuasive words of a great agnostic.

What witness of fidelity to God send you to your surroundings ? Your children, your neighbors, your friends, your family, perceive what is the depth of your commitment to Christ and his work ? Paul knew that Timothy had received this spiritual heritage ; he had the opportunity to check the time again. Have you verified that your loyalty has marked the lives of those who have observed you ?
Even if you have not had children after the flesh, you can, for your loyalty, generate spiritual son and daughters, faithful to the Lord.

My prayer on this day :

Lord my loyalty can be a model for those around me. My relatives, my friends, my neighbors can be earned to you by the example of my loyalty. My loyalty is contagious. Amen !
