"Now we have the thought of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:16).

 

Social networks invite us to share the writings, the news, the thoughts that are offered to us by other Internet users. You click on "share", and you testify as well as you agree with what has been said or written so.
Writing to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul said to them, "Now we have the thought of Christ." This statement teaches us that we, like Paul, can share the thought of Christ. Faced with various situations, we can search for what Christ thinks about it, or look at what some think. We can also dwell on what we ourselves think.
Paul reminds us that by the grace of God, the Holy Spirit wants to communicate to us the right thought, the one to be remembered, that of Christ.
The question that must be asked in all these situations where our thoughts are fluctuating is, "What is the thought of Christ" ?

Obviously, to get an answer to this question, we need intimacy, an ever deeper knowledge of the heart of Jesus. This passion of knowing Jesus was the supreme objective of the apostle : "... So I will know Christ ... I do not think I have grasped it ... but I run toward the goal ..." (Philippians 3: 8-14).
As your thoughts make the "yoyo", between what others think, and what you think, enter into the communion of the Lord, and ask him what he thinks.

As Jesus announces that he must die, Peter says, "It will not happen to you." It was his thought, but not Christ's. Jesus takes him back and says : "... Thy thoughts are not the thoughts of God, but those of men" (Matthew 16: 22-23). Peter, at that moment, had not grasped the mind of the Lord.
As we go through a trial path, we may think that this is not normal. Martha and Mary thought that if Jesus had been there, their brother Lazarus would not have died (John 11:21 and 32). But the thought of Christ was directed to the resurrection of Lazarus (John 11:11).

I am as limited as Peter or Martha and Mary ; I have often followed the thoughts of men or my own thoughts. You may feel the same way. May the Holy Spirit teach us to know and share the thoughts of Christ.

My prayer on this day :

In the midst of all these circumstances I pass through, I come to the Lord to seek your thoughts. Keep me from taking my own thoughts for yours. Amen !
