A first example to illustrate the need of prayer, prior to any intervention.
Hudson Taylor, this giant of faith which opened in the nineteenth century China to the Gospel, had noted in one of his collaborators a bad perception of the divine principles. After several days of prayer, he called this brother, then, when it arrives, ask to be able to pray more, to wait a little before scheduled maintenance. From the beginning of the meeting, the employee says, "Mr. Taylor, I must let you know right away that I now see things differently : it is you who are right ! "God answered the prayers Hudson Taylor who was to say that this one sentence :" God be thanked. "
Prayer also leads us to give a form suitable for our intervention, as the following three points :
- Individuals : we know by heart the prescription of the Lord : "Go, rebuke him, one on one" (. Matt 18. 15), and yet we do not he comes often to entrust that wants the hear what we have noticed in one or other of our brothers ?
- The time : "A word spoken in due season, how good is it !" (Prov 15. 23.). The Lord himself said to his disciples that they were not able to hear what he had to say. Led by the Holy Spirit, we will seize the favorable moment, to say what we have to say. But do not wait passively an opportunity that may not come as we would like, because we do not have the courage to grasp that which the Lord sets before us.
- The way : That the salt does not lack in our words to give them flavor and they are not as inconsistent and ineffective paste. However let us be moderate, so that our intervention is accepted. To wash the feet, it is better not to take the boiling water !
From our side also gratefully accept what someone has to say to us : this may be a message from the Lord through the Holy Spirit.
