"These are our sufferings that he brought is our pain he took charge ... that by his stripes we are healed ..." (Isaiah 53.2-12).

The text of Isaiah prophetically announces the deeper meaning of Jesus' crucifixion. As has already been mentioned, suffering, like sickness and death are the direct consequences of the fall. But by his atoning death, Christ delivers us from the consequences of the fall, that is to say, death, and suffering.

Does this mean that the believer will never know neither pain nor death? Certainly not, since two thousand years Christians suffer and die. But as Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he were dead; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. (John 11.25 / 26). Certainly, Jesus raised Lazarus, but later Lazarus died.
Likewise, Jesus may, if it is in its plan, push for a time to maturity of death, it can help us in our present sufferings, but above all it invites us to consider eternity where we will live eternally with him, and shall be delivered forever from death, suffering and hell.

Yes, we can say that he died so that we may be delivered from eternal torment. He is responsible for this eternal suffering to which we were for our sins. So when we go through the tribulation and cross a path of suffering, do not believe that this promise of Isaiah lapses, but learn to consider the scale of eternity.
It is in this perspective of eternity that Paul considers his own suffering : "I believe that there is no comparison between the sufferings of this present time and the glory which shall be revealed in us" ( Romans 8.18).

For the believer, suffering must be viewed not with the glasses of the world that lives only for the present, but with the glasses that allow us to see eternity.
This higher reality does not affect our compassion for those who suffer. And like Jesus, moved with compassion, eased the suffering of those who came to him, he also sent us to heal our turn (Mark 16.15 / 18).
But suffering which we want all to be issued, it is the suffering of hell. It is to deliver us, first and foremost, this suffering, that Christ died.
