"Then the princes and the satraps sought an opportunity to accuse Daniel as to the affairs of the kingdom. But they could find no opportunity or anything to take back, because he was faithful, and no fault or evil was seen in him. "(Daniel 6: 4).

Among the faithful mentioned in the Bible, Daniel occupies a special place. It is said that the chiefs and dignitaries of the kingdom sought to injure him. But Daniel was a faithful man and they found nothing to reproach him. Faithfulness was remarked for its integrity in the administration of the affairs of the king of Babylon.

I knew a butcher worker, to whom his boss wanted to lie when some people called. He demanded that his workman say : "The boss is absent," even though he was there. This Christian workman said to his employer : "I am sorry, but as I am a Christian, I do not want to lie." The boss, angry at this refusal, threatened to dismiss him if he continued to refuse. What was to happen happened, once again the workman answered the person who called the boss : "I pass it to you." Without further ado, the boss dismissed him.
The workman found another employer who increased his wages. The boss hired another worker. Six months later the boss summoned his former worker, begging him to return home. "I will increase your wages and you will have more than where you are! Astonished his former worker told him, but why this change ? Would you accept that I no longer lie ? Then his old boss said to him : "The one I hired at your place lies when I ask him, but besides he steals me as soon as I have my back turned, I will not keep it ! To which his former workman replied : "Even if you give me a higher salary, I will not abandon him who has agreed to hire me after you have dismissed me."

Daniel was a serious employee, he did not abandon his office before the hour, he did his work without negligence, he served the King with application and devotion, he was irreproachable, honest, faithful. As the grandees of the empire could not reproach Daniel for the purpose of trapping him, they urged the proud monarch to publish a decree demanding to worship only the king. These men knew that Daniel would not obey this decree, knowing his fidelity to his God.
True, this fidelity had the result of having Daniel cast into the lion's den, but the faithful God was with him in this pit.

An encouragement for this day :

Your fidelity can lead to rejection, suffering, persecution, but remember that God will always be at your side.
