"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law" (Romans 3.28).

The apostle Paul reminds strongly that our thoughts should be based on an unshakeable foundation, that of justification by faith, and not that of justification by works.

When we believe it is by our works that we can be saved, blessed and loved by God, we will continually ask ourselves about the value of our merits: "Did I do enough? Would God be pleased? Am I good enough? Did I observed all the commandments? Etc. "

Our thoughts never leave us alone.

Long before he became a disciple of Christ, the apostle Paul was a religious Jew, observing the traditions of his fathers, as he writes in Galatians: "... I was advancing in Judaism above many my age and my nation, being animated by an excessive zeal for the traditions of my fathers "(Galatians 1:14).

The practice of law, and the need to please God by observing Jewish traditions, fueled his thoughts.

What were the consequences?

He approved the killing of Stephen, he imprison women and children, he was violent towards men, thinking to worship God.

Whatever the religion, when its practitioners think that only their practices are approved of God, they become sectarian and exclusive ..

Paul thought the interests of God!

The basis of his thoughts based on legalism; gold, it dries the soul and produces destructive thoughts, deadly.

The thought of salvation by our works can please us because there is in this thought the occasion to glory.

This can generate thoughts of pride, conceit, self-righteousness, accompanied by judgmental thoughts toward those who do not "do".

Conversely, when we think that the only basis of our righteousness is our faith in the only God's grace, this will generate thoughts of peace, mercy, humility and joy.

We begin to look at other, not with the eyes of judgment, or worse, that of contempt, but we look at them through the eyes of compassion.

Our thoughts based on this foundation, will take us into a new relationship with God and men.

A tip for today:

Think that God will justify any man because of a particular practice, consider that only His grace is the foundation of salvation, and you will see others with respect and kindness. Paul Calzada
